Kansas Army National Guard. Today I received a package from ya'll and
just wanted to say thank you for the support.

Thank you for the package. It
seems that receiving something from home always make your day better. I
want to thank you for all that you have done and for the time and
thought that you have put into making the lives of others better.

To whom it may concern,
The Soldiers have started to receive their Holiday boxes and I would
like to say "thank you". As you may already know, it is never easy to be
away from home especially this time of year. "Mail Call" is always one
way to make things brighter during the Holidays. Even though we have not
been in country that long, the Soldiers' morale always goes up after
receiving mail. Your packages have helped to lift the spirits of the
Detachment. I only wish that I had pictures to show you the smiling
faces as the Soldiers walked from the mail room with their boxes in
hand. All of us here appreciate the time, money, love, care, and hard
work that went in to putting these Holiday boxes together. You have
helped to make this time away from our families a little more tolerable.
God bless you and Thank you from all of us. Have a happy holiday.

HI. My name
is MAJ Pat Kinsman and I just wanted to say thank you for the box. I
left FT Leavenworth in the summer of 2006 for Bamberg, Germany. After 10
months or so of training, I deployed with the 173D Airborne Brigade to
Afghanistan. The words in your letter caught my attention...with so much
negative media these days, its great to know that there are people out
in our great country who actually do support the troops in more than
just words. We appreciate your support and are making a difference over
here everyday. Thanks again...
Best,
MAJ Pat Kinsman

To the
wonderful people of Operation Support Our Soldiers .org,
Ok let me tell you guys the situation before I say thank you. I am part
of the 86th CSH which replaced the 28th CSH this month. The unit is
working seven days a week for the first to weeks of the deployment. We
have been trying to find time to run to the store and buy supplies that
we would like for daily living. We miss having a wal-mart down the
street or anything that is safe to walk to and buy bare essentials.
Anyway out of the blue they deliver packages from your organization with
much needed DETERGENT and other supplies. I wish you could have seen
your soldiers eating Girl Scout cookies in the break room of the
hospital. So for whoever reads this I would like to thanks for what you
are doing for us and know that it did make a difference.

Dear
Operation SOS,
The packages came in today. Thank you so much for your support. It's
great receiving packages from home, even more so when they are from
complete strangers. We're all doing well out here, working hard and
sleeping little, though. We are making a difference to the lives of the
local Afghanis here and the overwhelming majority is in favor of our
presence here. Please send a sincere thank you to SOS from myself and my
unit. Everything is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Nick Holthus |

Dear Operation SOS
I can't tell
you enough about all the good you do for folks. The packages started
coming today. I got mine and I saw platoon sergeants carrying off
stacks of them. I'll tell folks that more are coming. What you do is
nothing short of miraculous....wow, what a testimony to people that
folks care. I do have a different sense now, a different perception of
what freedom is. The worst sacrifice is being away from family and
friends. What you do does make a difference. We have been told we are
now less than 90 days from coming home. However, no one seems to know
what the magic date is. Me, I'm ready to blow this Popsicle stand
whenever they say go. By the way, I have to tell you, the temperature
here dropped to 67. That may sound warm,-after temps in the summer of
145 plus, this feels cold. Some of the guys and I went to the gym the
other night. The Ugandans guard all the facilities on the base to make
sure you have proper I.D. to enter. We saw one, poor guy, wearing
gloves and a heavy winter coat. He had the hood tied snug, and had a
mask on his face. He looked like he was ready to go into a blizzard.
We had on short sleeve shirts and shorts. It gave us something to laugh
at... I miss home.

Hello friends from Kansas!!! Just
thought I would drop you all a line saying thank you for the unexpected
care package. It creates a warm and fuzzy to know that people back home
still care about the soldiers over here, and it totally made my day.
Possibly even the week. I’m sending photos as well. Thank you all.

Just
received several packages from your organization today. All the Marines
of C Co, 1st Tanks thanks you and all your help for all the support you
have shown for us. I am especially grateful being supported by my
hometown. It is always nice to get packages, but it is always better
when you get them from people you know! I really miss being around
Kensington, and I know that it is changing quite a bit. Hopefully I will
be able to make a trip back there maybe sometime next year. Thanks again
and good luck on keeping up your support for us.
Sincerely,
Tim Tompkins

Ms. Elliott,
Thank you for the generous care package that you sent to me! My name is
Michael O. Dungan and I’m assigned to Naval Mobile Construction
Battalion 15 Fox Company based in Camp Fallujah, Iraq. Please tell all
of your contributors that we appreciate their efforts and support. I
have a mailing list of approximately 100 people that I keep in contact
with and I referred them to your website. The majority of my family live
in Kansas still and several of our battalion members are from the
Midwest region. Most of our detachment sites are in Kansas, Missouri,
and Nebraska.
Thank you again and I’ll send you a copy of my latest bulletin to my
family and friends.

Just wanted to thank all the great
folks in W. Ks for the box of goodies. Really nice to read the list of
contributors also, probably know some of them thru farm bureau or EMT/Nurses
association. Great to see that many Kansans names when your so far from
home. Have a great Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Pat

Thank you so much for the goodie
box. And thank everyone who contributed to this project.
I have lived in Kansas 40 of my 42 years, and I have been to many
communities in the state during that time. I was surprised by the number
of towns that I did not recognize, including Kensington. After some
quick research, I found that Kensington wasn't terribly far from my
hometown, Belleville which also sits right off of 36 HWY. I lived there
until 1980 and moved with my parents to Pratt that same year where I
went to high school.
I currently reside in Lawrence with my wife and four wonderful boys. My
greatest personal sacrifice has been to be apart from them during this
deployment. I miss them tremendously. Fortunately for me, modern
technology has made it a little easier to keep in touch with them via
e-mail and live video feed.
I sent an e-mail earlier, but it seems to have gotten lost somewhere in
the transition of sending it. If you received it, it likely says a lot
of the same that this e-mail says. God bless you and all of the people
who work so hard to bring a smile to those of us who are serving
overseas. Let me know that you have received this e-mail and I will send
some photos along of my family. Thank you again.

Dear Melanie Elliott & Operation
SOS,
Thank you so much for your care package! I received it today and was
pleasantly surprised!! I put the children's coloring book pictures up on
the wall in our office, they added much needed color! The other items
were wonderful as well. I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness!
Now I can send some Christmas cards out as well. I'll send them to my
family and friends, I'm sure they'll love them. I shared my cookies and
treats with my fellow Sea Bees and they send their thanks as well. We
are all making the best of things here but your package did make a huge
difference. It put a smile on all our faces.

To OUR Home town Heroes
I would like to thank you for the positive support you have given to the
troops in our battalion. The care packages we received from Operation
SOS have made our time here in theatre of Operations more like home. Our
mission here would be much more difficult, if we did not have the
wavering support the American people. The graciousness that you have
shown my soldiers have made an impact on our morale and well being. The
time spent organizing and mailing these packages to us was not spent in
vain.
Again, thank you so much for your support of the American soldiers

supporters
First I would like to say thank you! Thank you for the wonderful
reminder of the nation I defend. There is no greater pride than being an
AMERICAN SOLDIER and defending the greatest nation on earth and its
people. Being here you realize how lucky we are to have been born in a
nation that has people that love and care for each other, even though
they may have nothing more in common than citizenship.
It is so fun to watch my friends open their packages because it is like
Christmas in a small box.. The smallest things bring smiles. The gold
balls were very popular, Santa’s hats and of course artwork from our
nations future. The things we really needed were the laundry soap and
hygiene items. The cookies were wonderful. That’s all I have for now,
Once again thank you. You are all outstanding Americans. Stay true to
yourselves and each other

PS, A young man named Dawson DeBoer send a great picture and message and
a little girl named Hannah colored a beautiful angel. Please if you
could find them and tell them how happy they made me. I know there are a
lot of people, but you never know when you could be the last reason a
solider smile. |
